Genesee Swim Team Code of Conduct for Parent

Genesee Mountain Thunder Swim Team strives to provide a highly enjoyable and positive experience for our swimmers.  We aim to provide a quality environment that enables each swimmer to develop his or her ability to the fullest extent possible.  Swimmers, parents, coaches and volunteers are all integral to this positive and quality environment.  By signing the following pledge, you are certifying that you will support Genesee Swim Team in developing this positive and quality environment.

I / We, the Parents/Guardians of ______________________  pledge to:

1.       Be encouraging, supportive and affirmative towards my child’s swimming, and his/her teammates’ swimming;

2.       respect officials and accept decisions;

3.       support and respect the coaches, Board and all members of the team;

4.       fulfill my volunteer commitment to the team;

5.       become familiar with the swimming techniques and guidelines;

6.       comply with the rules, policies and procedures of the team as documented in the Foothills Swim Association By Laws available from the Swim Team Board and in the Guard House at Foothills pool.

7.       maintain communication with the Team Coach and Assistants regarding my child’s progress at appropriate mutually agreeable times, (never on meet day or during practice, unless such communication is specifically initiated by the Team Coaches.)

8.       address any coaching concerns with the Team Liaison or Presidents of the Swim Team Board;

9.       fulfill my financial obligation to the Team in a timely manner;

10.    ensure that all spectators attending a meet with me adhere to this Code of Conduct.

11.    respect all Foundation employees, facilities and Foundation Rules and Regulations.

Further, I will not:

1.       engage in loud, disrespectful or hostile comments directed toward an official;

2.       engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, swimmer or parent;

3.       criticize any swimmer, including my own, during the meet or practices;

4.       interfere at any time with the duties and responsibilities of the coach or Swim Team Board;

5.       act in any manner which is detrimental to the team;

Consequences include:

1.       You receive a warning.

2.       You are asked to leave the meet.

3.       Your child is suspended from the meet.

4.       Your child is asked to leave the team.

I ______________________  pledge to:

1.      be prompt to all practices, meets and team functions;

2.      have a positive, never quit attitude;

3.      respect officials and accept their decisions without question;

4.      demonstrate sportsmanship;

5.      give encouragement to my teammates;

6.      learn the rules, policies and procedures of the team;

7.      immediately report any injury to the coach;

8.      respect my coach and opponents;

9.      learn the rules of the strokes and meets;

10.  notify the coach in advance if I will be late for or unable to attend a meet;

11.  approach the coach one on one with any personal swimming related concerns;

12.  respect all Foundation employees, facilities and Foundation Rules and Regulations.

Further, I will not:

1.      engage in dissent towards an official;

2.      use profane or vulgar language;

3.      use any controlled substance (drugs, tobacco and alcohol ) unless prescribed by a physician;

4.      leave a meet or practice without informing the coach.

5.      make excuses or blame others if my team loses a meet;

Consequences include:

1.      You receive a warning.

2.      You do not participate the next meet in relays.

3.      You are suspended from the meet.

4.       You are asked to leave the  team.
